Mexican-backed full service provider Claro Peru has rolled out fibre-optic infrastructure to Pucallpa, providing broadband at speeds of up to 60Mbps and digital TV, including high definition (HD) channels. La Republica cites Claro’s product manager Julio Alzamora as saying that the operator has ‘committed to placing the inner cities of the country at the technological forefront in the region.’ However, the official went on to blame municipal authorities for delays to the deployment: ‘Growth still remains slow in many cities, because some municipalities hamper the deployment of new infrastructure… [Nevertheless] we look forward to increasing the number of cities where we [offer] services.’
