The Brazilian telco Oi has concluded a deal to sell 2,007 mobile communications towers to SBA Torres Brasil for BRL1.525 billion (USD696 million). The deal has been carried out via Oi’s subsidiaries Telemar Norte Leste and BRT Servicos de Internet. The deal, which was first announced last December, also sees the Brazilian telco entering into a long-term leasing agreement with SBA for the use of antenna space on each site. It is understood that the sites in question currently number 1.6 tenants per location – including Oi – and include standing leasing agreements with all of Brazil’s leading wireless operators. The latest transaction follows a similar agreement struck between Oi and SBA in November 2013 which gave Oi rights to use 2,113 of the more than 5,000 sites SBA now owns across Brazil.
