NBTC sets 4G reserve prices

1 Apr 2014

Thailand’s National Broadcasting & Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) has made a decision to set the minimum reserve prices for upcoming 4G licence auctions, based on recommendations from the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), ahead of a final draft to be submitted this month, the Bangkok Post reports. The minimum bid value for each 5MHz of 1800MHz band spectrum to be auctioned this August has been set at THB5 billion (USD154 million), while the reserve price for each 5MHz block in the following 900MHz spectrum auction in November will be THB9 billion, according to the Post’s source close to NBTC commissioners. A further auction in the 1800MHz band is scheduled for September 2015, and it has not yet been confirmed if the same reserve price applies for this auction as the August 2014 sale.
