Orange Botswana, the country’s second largest mobile operator by subscribers, is set to launch a new range of pre-paid tariffs under the Ola! brand, allowing customers to choose from a variety of packages that include talk minutes, SMS and data, Biztech reports. ‘We have listened to our customers’ feedback and introduced Orange Ola! pre-paid packages. Customers want simple and flexible offers to cater for their needs,’ commented Orange Botswana CEO Philippe Baudin. The tariff range includes: ‘Ola! Classic’, which comes with minutes to all networks and SMS; ‘Ola! Social’, including minutes to the Orange network, SMS and data for Facebook and Twitter; ‘Ola! Surf & Talk’, containing minutes for all domestic networks and data; and ‘Ola! Ultimate’, which includes minutes to all networks in Botswana and unlimited SMS and data. The four tariffs are available on a daily, weekly or monthly basis.
Baudin added: ‘In the end we wanted to create an innovative new offer to help develop stronger bonds with our customers. This comes from understanding their evolving needs. I am confident that with Ola! pre-paid packages, we have answered those needs and we are confident that they are going to enjoy this new innovation because these pre-paid packages offer the most competitive rates in the market on a variety of usages.’ TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database notes that Orange reported a total of 880,000 mobile customers at the end of 2013 (giving it a market share of 27.0%), behind MTN-owned market leader Mascom Wireless with 1.71 million (52.5%) and ahead of BTC Mobile with around 672,000 subscribers (20.6%).
