Netpage WiMAX reaches Brikama

31 Mar 2014

Gambian WiMAX wireless broadband internet provider Netpage has expanded its commercial ‘4G Max Evolution’ network to Brikama, the regional capital of the country’s Western Division, the ISP announced via a Twitter message on 26 March 2014. The company’s WiMAX services are aimed at ‘individuals, internet cafes, corporate organisations, schools, projects and NGOs [non governmental organisations]’. The latest WiMAX base station coverage reaches the city of Brikama and surrounding areas including: Sanyang, Kembujeh, Sifoe, Darsilami, Kassa Kunda, Manduar, Kunkujang, Tubakuta, Nyofelleh, Kiti, Jambangali and Jalambang.

TeleGeography says that Netpage is currently Gambia’s largest WiMAX broadband provider by users, having launched its 4G WiMAX data-only service in March 2012 in the Greater Banjul region (including the country’s largest economic centre Serrekunda), offering both fixed and mobile services for modem users, and signing up around 1,100 users by the end of that year.
