Omnitel, Lithuania’s largest mobile operator by subscribers, has expanded its 4G LTE network to the region of Dzukija in the south-east of the country. Coverage is now available in the towns and cities of Alytus, Birstonas, Druskininkai, Varena, Salcininkai and Daugai. Last month the TeliaSonera-owned operator announced that its LTE network footprint had reached 40% of the population; by the end of the year Omnitel is aiming to increase this to 50%, while also hoping to provide 3G coverage to the whole of the country.
