24 Mar 2014

AT&T Mobility has lodged three separate applications with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to acquire spectrum holdings in the 700MHz and AWS-1 bands. According to Fierce Wireless, the first of the three projected deals will see AT&T acquire 12MHz of Lower 700MHz B block spectrum from NTCH and its affiliate WGH Communications; the frequencies cover 18 counties in six Cellular Market Areas (CMAs) across parts of Georgia, Florida, Maryland, Nevada, New Mexico and Texas.

The second deal, with MilkyWay Broadband, is for 12MHz of Lower 700MHz C block spectrum in 71 counties in 15 CMAs, covering parts of Florida, Georgia, New Jersey, South Carolina, Texas, Utah and Virginia. Meanwhile, the third transaction – for AWS spectrum – has been agreed with Paul Bunyan Rural Telephone Cooperative, and concerns 20MHz of AWS-1 A block spectrum in nine counties in CMAs in parts of Minnesota and North Dakota.
