US mobile giant Sprint has extended its LTE coverage to 20 new markets, taking the total number of cities in which the service is available to 402. New markets include: Myrtle Beach (South Carolina), Omaha (Nebraska) and Bakersfield (California). The cellco has also introduced its tri-band carrier aggregation (CA) ‘Sprint Spark’ service in two more cities, Provo (Utah) and Trenton (New Jersey). Spark delivers ‘real-world’ downlink speeds of up to 60Mbps, the carrier notes.
Sprint Spark is currently available in the following 18 markets: Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston and San Antonio (all Texas); Baltimore (Maryland); Chicago (Illinois); Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Jacksonville and Tampa (all Florida); Kansas City (Kansas/Missouri); Los Angeles (California); New York City (New York); Philadelphia (Pennsylvania) and Salt Lake City (Utah) – alongside the aforementioned new additions, Provo and Trenton. Going forward, Sprint plans to deploy Sprint Spark in 100 of America’s largest cities over the next three years.
