TeliaSonera Finland has reportedly inked a deal under which it will acquire the consumer operations and fixed networks belonging to AinaCom. Claiming that the purchase ‘strengthens Sonera’s position [in] the Finnish market’, the agreement has been valued at EUR47 million (USD64.7 million) on a cash and debt-free basis. AinaCom’s consumer operations are said to include 15,900 fixed line broadband customers, 9,000 fixed voice accesses, 10,000 mobile subscriptions and 29,000 cable TV subscribers, and the company generated net sales of EUR16 million in 2013, with an EBITDA of approximately EUR6 million. With the acquisition expected to generate significant synergies, the deal also includes the transfer of 43 staff members from AinaCom to TeliaSonera Finland.
Commenting on the deal, Valdur Laid, who will become head of TeliaSonera Finland from 1 April 2014, said: ‘With the agreement, Sonera strengthens its position in the Hameenlinna region while also deepening its cooperation with AinaCom’s remaining B2B business. Following the transaction, AinaCom’s consumer customers will be able to choose their services from the wide selection of Sonera’s fixed, broadband, TV and mobile offerings.’
