Orange Poland has purchased a 2.4MHz block of 1800MHz spectrum from rival wireless provider Polkometel, which operates under the ‘Plus’ brand, for an undisclosed sum, the French-backed operator announced in a press release yesterday. The transaction was originally agreed between the two companies in July 2013 but was delayed whilst the duo sought approval from the Office of Electronic Communication (UKE). Orange noted that, despite the purchase, it remains the operator with the smallest amount of 1800MHz spectrum adding that it will continue to use the band for voice services, and will lease bandwidth from other operators to provide 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) services.
