Polkomtel, Poland’s third largest cellco by subscribers, has booked total revenues of PLN6.68 billion (USD2.18 billion) for the twelve months to end December 2013, down 6% year-on-year. The cellco, which offers services under the ‘Plus’ brand, reported a 2% decline in retail turnover to PLN5.49 billion, whilst revenues from interconnection and wholesale service plummeted 21% to PLN1.19 billion. Intense competition in the market has eroded Polkotmel’s post-paid subscriber base, which dipped by 0.5% to 7.4 million, although the cellco did make gains in the less lucrative pre-paid segment, expanding its user base by 330,000. Polkomtel registered EBITDA of PLN2.86 billion for the year, representing a 3% increase compared to 2012, whilst EBITDA margin improved by 3.7 percentage points to 42.8%.
