Digicel opts for Accuris’ Wi-Fi offload solution

26 Feb 2014

Pan-Caribbean telecoms group Digicel, which operates in 31 markets across the Caribbean, Latin America and Pacific regions, has selected Accuris Networks’ Wi-Fi offload and roaming platform AccuROAM for use throughout its footprint, the vendor announced in a press release earlier this week. The solution uses SIM-based account credential to enable mobile users to automatically and securely connect to Wi-Fi hotspots without entering usernames and passwords. According to Accuris, AccuROAM enables any Wi-Fi network to function as an extension of GSM or CDMA networks for billing, policy and authentication.

Conor Clarke, international business director for Digicel Group commented on the deal: ‘Besides Accuris Networks’ ability to deliver a seamless authentication framework for Wi-Fi, the solution is easy to integrate. It will let us provide new services to our customers that offer real convenience and cost advantages as they use their mobile devices.’
