SFR deploys LTE in Alpe d’Huez, Chamonix and Les Houches

21 Feb 2014

French cellco SFR has announced the deployment of Long Term Evolution (LTE) networks in the winter resorts of Alpe d’Huez, Chamonix and Les Houches. According to a company press release, SFR will continue its LTE deployments throughout 2014 by further utilising the 800MHz frequency band, which allows for better coverage inside buildings. Further, the company has revealed that it reached its goal to cover 40% of the population with 4G LTE by end-2013, while the combined footprint of its DC-HSPA+ and LTE networks reached 75% of the French population. By that date, SFR boasted a 4G presence in around 1,200 towns.
