Kazakhtelecom reports 2013 revenues of KZT190.7 billion; Altel signs up 110,000 LTE users

State-backed national operator Kazakhtelecom has reported total revenues of KZT190.7 billion (USD1.2 billion) for the twelve months ended 31 December 2013, up from KZT175.8 billion one year earlier. Net profit generated in the year under review was KZT19.7 billion, down slightly from KZT20.0 billion in 2012.

While the company has yet to provide a comprehensive operational breakdown for the period under review, it has noted that mobile subsidiary Altel notched up 110,000 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) subscribers by end-2013. The network was launched in Astana and Almaty in December 2012 and extended to Karaganda, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Shymkent, Aktobe, Atyrau and Aktau in December 2013.
