French cable provider and mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) Numericable plans to offer free SIM-only 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) connectivity to its ‘Premium’ fibre-optic subscribers for one year, local newspaper La Tribune reports. The introductory fibre quad-play service, dubbed ‘Power 4’, costs EUR45.90 (USD61.95) a month. The monthly offer will include unlimited calls to landline and mobile numbers, unlimited SMS/MMS and a 3GB data allowance. The service will be offered over SFR’s LTE network, while Numericable will reportedly charge additional monthly fee of EUR9 for subscribers who wish to extend their LTE access beyond the first year.
As previously reported by TeleGeography’s CommsUpdate, Numericable agreed a MVNO partnership with SFR for the provision of LTE services in December 2013. Recently, Thierry Lemaitre, chief financial officer at Numericable, suggested that a merger between the two parties could be an option, going forward.
