bemobile, a cellular operator with a presence in Papua New Guinea (PNG) and Solomon Islands, has confirmed that it has inked a deal with Chinese equipment vendor Huawei to roll out additional cell towers and improve quality of service (QoS) in both markets. As part of the contract, which was signed on 24 December 2013, overseas Huawei engineers will providing training for local technical staff. The new deployments are expected to be completed by mid-2014, bemobile Solomon Islands CEO Niall Downey added.
