Cypriot telecoms watchdog, the Office of the Commissioner of Electronic Communications & Postal Regulation (OCECPR), has launched a public consultation on the possible alteration of the scope of the country’s universal service obligations. According to a press release, the authority aims to determine whether the unavailability of universal services is likely to lead to social exclusion, and if the availability and use of specific services conveys a general net benefit for all consumers. The regulator invites all interested parties to submit their written comments by 18 February 2014, with a public hearing scheduled to be held on 20 February.
