Norway’s Telenor has confirmed it will pump THB34 billion (USD1.07 billion) in the next three years into its Thai mobile subsidiary DTAC, with spending earmarked for expansion of its ‘TriNet’ branded 850MHz, 1800MHz and 2100MHz network services, including the launch of 4G LTE services. As quoted by the Bangkok Post, Telenor’s CEO Jon Fredrik Baksaas said the move is aimed at further accelerating DTAC’s mobile data growth and expanding its 3G network coverage nationwide. DTAC saw mobile data traffic surge by 80% in the third quarter of 2013.
