MTS claims 99.94m customers across five markets

Russia-based telecoms group Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) has revealed that its consolidated mobile subscriber base reached 99.94 million at 30 September 2013, up 2.5% quarter-on-quarter from 97.51 million. The group’s domestic unit continues to account for the lion’s share of users, with 73.14 million subscribers, and added 1.45 million net new users in the three months ended 30 September. Meanwhile, MTS Ukraine claimed 22.41 million customers, ahead of MTS Belarus (5.33 million), Armenia-based VivaCell (2.38 million) and MTS Turkmenistan (2.01 million). The group’s third quarter financial results are expected to be announced later this week.
