Digiweb benefits from EUR12m cash injection

12 Nov 2013

Irish alternative telecoms operator Digiweb has received a cash injection of almost EUR12 million (USD16.1 million), via a share placement led by Morgan Stanley. According to SiliconRepublic, the Dublin-based altnet – which purchased European operator Viatel in May this year – placed more than 1.2 million shares on behalf of a vehicle called Viatel Investor Holdco LLC, registered in New York. Morgan Stanley reportedly became a minority shareholder in Digiweb following the Viatel deal, which gifted Digiweb a EUR1.5 billion pan-European fibre network. The cash injection will be used to help fund Digiweb’s European expansion drive.
