3G and LTE launched commercially in Kiribati

Kiribati operator TSKL announced that it launched commercial 3G W-CDMA/HSPA and 4G LTE mobile broadband services on 29 October 2013, claiming the first commercial LTE network in the South Pacific region. On its website TSKL advertises 3G/4G mobile data services at AUD0.15 (USD0.14) per MB. Teannaki Tongaua, CEO of TSKL, officially launched the 3G/4G network, saying: ‘The wait is over for the people of Kiribati. For the first time we have access to the very latest mobile technology, bringing our remote island nation closer to our business partners, friends and family in the region and the rest of the world.’
