Telekom Srbija sale put off for ‘two to three years’

1 Nov 2013

TMT Finance cites unnamed sources as saying that state-owned telco Telekom Srbija has begun holding talks with banks over a refinancing package, postponing earlier plans to issue requests for proposals (RFPs) to privatise the telco. The Serbian government will still go ahead with the sale of the telco, but the privatisation is no longer a priority and will take place within the next two to three years. In place of an injection of cash from a new investor, Telekom Srbija is reportedly holding discussions with its existing creditors to refinance its debts.
