Astelit’s revenues jump 11.7% year-on-year

29 Oct 2013

In the third quarter of 2013 Ukrainian cellco Astelit (Life:)) recorded an 11.7% year-on-year increase in revenue to UAH991.0 million (USD119.8 million), a figure which also grew 10.2% quarter-on-quarter, driven by a growing subscriber base and expanding turnover from mobile data and other value added services (VAS). EBITDA increased by 20.4% year-on-year and 6.7% quarter-on-quarter to UAH305.2 million in July-September 2013, boosting the EBITDA margin by 2.2 percentage points y-o-y to 30.8%. Active subscribers (on a three-month usage basis) grew by a net 1.2 million in twelve months to 9.4 million at 31 September 2013, including 800,000 net active user additions in the third quarter alone. Astelit – majority controlled by Turkcell in a joint venture with Ukrainian conglomerate SCM – added that its total registered mobile subscriber base grew by 1.5 million in a year to 12.2 million at the end of September. ARPU in Q3 2013 decreased by 2.1% y-o-y to UAH27.7, compared to UAH28.3 in 3Q12, mainly due to attracting new customers with lower yields. Net loss was reduced in 3Q13 by 47.5% y-o-y to UAH47.6 million, compared to UAH90.7 million in the same period of 2012. CAPEX in July-September 2013 was lowered 9.8% y-o-y to UAH216.4 million, although this represented a 156.4% increase from the UAH84.4 million spent in 2Q13.
