Bangladeshi WiMAX wireless broadband network operators Banglalion Communications and Augere Wireless Broadband (Qubee) both aim to launch trials of 4G TD-LTE internet access services before the end of this year, the Daily Star reports. As reported earlier in the month by CommsUpdate, the WiMAX duo received permission from the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) to upgrade their networks with faster TD-LTE technology via amendments to the country’s Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) licensing conditions, and Qubee’s CEO Faisal Hyder responded with the announcement that the company would launch a trial LTE-based service this year after upgrading its network. As quoted in the latest Star report, rival Banglalion’s chief coordinator, Azhar Chowdhury, said: ‘We will go for a LTE trial this year and launch the service by mid-next year. We are currently doing the ground work.’
