PCCW Global provides first direct submarine cable access to the DRC via WACS

18 Oct 2013

PCCW Global, the international operating division of Hong Kong’s HKT, has announced that it has established a direct connection to the West Africa Cable System (WACS) at Kinshasa, providing the first ever direct international undersea cable access to the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). In addition to its new direct access option via WACS, PCCW Global says it has invested substantially in developing a mix of connectivity options for the DRC which include terrestrial cross-border fibre networks, access to subsea cable routes, as well as various satellite connectivity. As such, PCCW now claims links in Kinshasa, Matadi, Goma and Lubumbashi.
