Monaco Telecom launched the principality of Monaco’s first 4G mobile network on 26 September, WedTimeMedias reports, with commercial offers being made available to customers from today. The move follows successful beta test trials for Monaco Telecom customers in June this year, and comes in the wake of the April 2013 award of a Long Term Evolution (LTE) contract to Chinese telecoms vendor Huawei. Although Monaco Telecom is now offering 4G, people living there have been able to access LTE services provided by French operator Orange France since May this year. That month, Orange switched on its service in Cannes before expanding across the city in July and announcing the launch of ultra-high speed mobile services in Nice in September. By the end of this year Monaco Telecom subscribers are expected to benefit from an LTE roaming agreement with Orange France covering its neighbouring country.
