Vimpelcom's OTH now GTH

24 Sep 2013

Vimpelcom subsidiary Orascom Telecom Holding (OTH) has changed its name to Global Telecom Holding (GTH). The company’s ticker symbols on the Egyptian Stock Exchange (EGX) and London Stock Exchange (LSE) have been amended to ‘GTHE.CA’ and ‘GLTD:LI’ respectively with effect from 23 September 2013, and its new website address is www.gtelecom.com (formerly www.orascomtelecom.com). The change was belatedly carried out following a shareholder decision in November 2012.

Egypt-based GTH operates mobile networks in Algeria (Djezzy), Pakistan (Mobilink), Bangladesh (Banglalink), and has indirect equity shareholdings in Canada’s Globalive Wireless (Wind Mobile) and Telecel Zimbabwe, while it also operates in Burundi (U-Com/leo) and the Central African Republic (Telecel-RCA) through its subsidiary Telecel Globe. GTH’s majority-Russian owned parent Vimpelcom is headquartered in the Netherlands and listed in the US.
