17 Sep 2013

Cableco UPC Netherlands plans to launch shared Wi-Fi hotspots for all its customers based on their home broadband modems, it announced at the IBC event in Amsterdam. Tests of the service will be wrapped up soon, allowing UPC to examine customer feedback as well as the extent of coverage provided and whether this can be enhanced with additional Wi-Fi equipment. Dutch-based Telecompaper reports that UPC, part of the Liberty Global group, also plans to expand the Wi-Fi sharing service to its other European markets.
