SBB forced to delay wireless launch

16 Sep 2013

Cableco Serbia Broadband (SBB) has revealed that its efforts to launch mobile services as a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) have been held up by incumbent operator Telekom Srbija’s refusal to cooperate on mobile number portability (MNP), Telecompaper writes. According to Telekom Srbija (which wholly owns Mobile Telephony of Serbia [MTS]), under current regulations the right to transfer numbers is limited to network operators and as such, SBB, as an MVNO, has no right to MNP. SBB noted that agreements had already been signed and implemented with the nation’s other cellcos, Mobilkom Serbia (which operates under the VIP brand name) and Norwegian-backed Telenor Serbia.
