Sudan considers allowing MVNOs

27 Aug 2013

TMT Finance reports that the Sudanese telecoms regulator is considering allowing mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs) to enter the country’s wireless sector. According to unnamed sources, the watchdog has been holding discussions with external advisors, although the proposal remains at a very early stage. ‘Unlike other countries in Europe and further beyond, most Sub-Saharan telco markets probably still aren’t quite matured enough to make the MVNO model work effectively as it has elsewhere, although this does seem to be gradually changing,’ said a source.
