Orange kick-starts tower sale process in DRC

27 Aug 2013

The Orange Group is believed to have initiated the process to sell its cell towers in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), with Lazard said to be advising the company on the disposal. According to TMT Finance, the French group has entered into negotiations with a number of buyers, including Helios Towers Africa, which already has a presence in the country thanks to its 2010 deal to buy 729 towers from Tigo DRC for USD45 million. TeleGeography notes that Orange has already divested towers in a number of African markets, including Cote d’Ivoire, Cameroon, Kenya and Uganda.
