Mobile network operator Vodafone Netherlands has commenced deployment of small cells on its network as part of its 4G rollout, Telecompaper reports. The small cells are designed to boost capacity in areas with high traffic, and will be rolled out initially in Vodafone and BelCompany shops under the name ‘Speed Zone’, to allow Vodafone customers to get used to the new technology. Further, the carrier says it intends to install small cells at high traffic zones in major cities, to improve signal quality – particularly for mobile internet services.
