Finnish technology giant Nokia gave a statement yesterday following completion of its EUR1.7 billion (USD2.3 billion) acquisition of Siemens’ 50% stake in network equipment provider Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) on Wednesday. After becoming a 100%-owned subsidiary of Nokia the network division has changed its name to Nokia Solutions & Networks (NSN) for short. NSN’s CEO, Rajeev Suri, stated that the firm’s strategy and focus on the mobile broadband segment remained unchanged. However, Bloomberg reports that NSN is currently considering slashing an additional 8,500 jobs.
