Claro Peru, the nation’s second largest wireless operator by subscribers, has announced that it may still launch 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) services, despite losing out in the recent auction of AWS spectrum, El Comercio reports. The Mexican-backed cellco said in a statement that the AWS band spectrum (1700MHz and 2100MHz) was not the only option for offering LTE services, and that other alternatives were available. The provider did not elaborate on its plans, however, saying that it was yet to ‘define the most suitable [spectrum band] to provide the service.’
