Orange Romania and Vodafone Romania have concluded a network sharing agreement which centres on the expansion of their respective 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) networks, as well as the coverage of so-called ‘white spaces’ in rural regions. Mediafax quotes a joint statement from the operators as saying: ‘Each of Vodafone and Orange will continue to run independent spectrum and will retain strategic control and completely differentiated core networks, such that the parties remain totally independent and provide their services to customers on an individual basis … Both companies will have access to a common grid of sites which will eliminate the unnecessary duplication of the network and will bring significant environmental benefits’.
