Ukrtelecom’s first-half revenues fall 1.7%, profit slumps

Ukrainian full-service telco Ukrtelecom has reported its financial income statement for the first half of 2013 under IFRS standards, which showed that its net revenues for the six months ended 30 June 2013 reached UAH3.242 billion (USD393 million), down by 1.7% year-on-year from UAH3.298 billion in H1 2012. According to the statement Ukrtelecom made a net profit of UAH26.8 million in January-June 2013, but this was down from UAH124.5 million in the year-ago period. As previously reported by CommsUpdate, Ukrtelecom’s fixed broadband subscriber base reached 1.606 million at the end of June 2013, up from 1.543 million at the beginning of the year. Ukraine’s State Statistics Committee (SSC) reports that total revenues from the country’s fixed internet access segment were up by 4.3% year-on-year to UAH2.4 billion in the first six months of 2013, while the local fixed telephony market also saw an increase in first-half revenues, of 5.1% y-o-y to UAH2.8 billion, as did the relatively small Ukrainian fixed VoIP sector (up 10.1% to UAH83 million in H1 2013), but Ukrainian operators’ combined domestic long-distance (DLD) telephony turnover plummeted by 21.9% to UAH1.2 billion in the same period, and mobile segment revenue dropped by 1.8% to UAH15.3 billion in the first two quarters of this year, according to the SSC’s data.
