Ukrtelecom says that its fixed broadband subscriber base reached 1.606 million at the end of June 2013, up by 22,000 in three months, and an increase from 1.543 million at the beginning of the year. The incumbent also reported that its broadband average revenue per user (ARPU) remained at UAH70 (USD8.60) in the first and second quarters of the year, although TeleGeography notes that this was down from UAH75 at mid-2012. Since May 2013 Ukrtelecom has been implementing a programme to optimise subscriber lines, and it reported that it has upgraded 20,000 customers so far under the scheme with speeds increased by an average of 2.7 times from 5.5Mbps up to 15Mbps.
