DTAC posts financial growth on eve of TriNet launch

Thailand’s second largest cellco by users DTAC has posted net profit of THB2.937 billion (USD94.4 million) in the second quarter of 2013, up from THB2.829 billion in Q2 2012, while in the first six months of 2013 profit rose to THB5.965 billion from THB5.825 billion in the year-ago period. Revenue in the three months ending 30 June 2013 climbed by 13.5% year-on-year to THB24.5 billion, while consolidated turnover in the six months to the end of June rose 9.8% y-o-y to THB48.5 billion, driven largely by smartphone take-up. The operator, a subsidiary of Telenor, officially launches its 2100MHz 3G network, integrated with its existing 1800MHz/850MHz 2G/3G services under the ‘TriNet’ banner, tomorrow.
