Cellcos ask to delay MNP by two years

11 Jul 2013

The Association of Mobile Telecommunication Operators of Bangladesh (AMTOB) has written to the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (BTRC) to request a two-year delay to the regulator’s plan to introduce mobile number portability (MNP) at the end of this year. The operators collectively argued that the 3G mobile licence auction scheduled for September and subsequent 3G network rollouts should be prioritised in the near-term before implementing MNP.
