Volia: at least 20 potential cableco takeover targets

9 Jul 2013

In an interview posted on leading Ukrainian cableco Volia’s website, CEO Gyorgy Zsembery said that the company currently sees 20-30 smaller cable TV operators as potential takeover targets, and several acquisitions are expected to close in the coming months. Organic network expansion also continues, and Volia expects to invest nearly UAH300 million (USD36 million) in CAPEX this year, compared to the average annual CAPEX over the last eight years of UAH200 million, with some of the increase attributed to Volia’s recent launch of an over-the-top (OTT) hybrid set-top box service to expand its service reach beyond its cable network in partnership with other broadband ISPs.
