Free emergency mobile calls to be pushed through, says regulator

9 Jul 2013

The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) says it will speed up plans to force operators to offer free mobile phone calls to all emergency services. Universal free emergency calls from all phone lines are stipulated in the national numbering plan but have not yet been implemented. The BTRC told newspaper New Age that it has ‘speeded up the procedure … We will sit with the stakeholders soon to discuss the detail procedure of the emergency toll-free numbers.’
