21 Jun 2013

Vodafone Ireland is to invest USD6.6 million in a fixed data network for the public sector, having been awarded a contract by the Republic’s Department of Public Expenditure and Reform. Under the government’s plan to accelerate a migration towards cloud computing, the carrier will provide the agency with a managed high-bandwidth, fixed data network for various government agencies and departments. The new infrastructure is expected to deliver maximum speeds of 10Gbps, with Vodafone Ireland looking to build the initial infrastructure over the next three years.
