MTN unveils new range of WiMAX plans

MTN Cameroon, the local subsidiary of South African telecoms operator MTN Group, has officially launched a new range of mobile WiMAX tariffs for high speed internet access. The new ‘MTN Xtra Surf’ plans offer maximum download speeds of up to 2Mbps for both residential and business customers. A choice of daily (priced at XAF1,000 [USD2.04]), weekly (XAF5,000) and monthly (XAF25,000) tariffs are available, with respective data allowances of 100MB, 750MB and 4GB. A special nighttime plan with 2GB of data costs XAF6,000 for surfing between 12am and 6am, while ‘Pay as You Surf’ tariffs are priced at XAF150 per minute or XAF0.04 per kb.
