Basse-Terre court sides with Mediaserv in Outremer ERDF dispute

13 Jun 2013

According to Dom-Tom ADSL, a website focusing on telecoms activities in the French overseas territories, the Administrative Court of Basse-Terre has rejected Outremer Telecom’s attempt to force an annulment of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) grant awarded to rival operator Mediaserv. Company president Laurent Agrech commented: ‘Mediaserv is regularly the target of attacks and attempted judicial [action] from its competitors. We should be flattered by these attacks, but we lament the time and energy spent to have to defend our company’. He also noted that Mediaserv’s subscriber base currently stands at 90,000 – up from around 70,000 year-on-year. Triple-play provider Mediaserv operates in the operating in the French overseas departments (departement d’outre-mer [DOM]) of Guadeloupe, Martinique, French Guiana, Reunion and Mayotte.
