Resourcery implements Cisco MPLS for MTN Nigeria

12 Jun 2013

Nigerian systems integration company Resourcery, in partnership with Cisco Systems, has implemented Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) for MTN Nigeria at twelve of the firm’s switch sites in four regions across the country. The project, which was completed within six months, will ensure that the company can easily accommodate new and future technologies to help reduce network congestion. MTN Nigeria’s National Information Technology Manager Chukwunonso Nkenke is quoted by Nigeria Communications Week as saying that with the new technology, MTN will be able to easily respond to rapidly-changing business needs, especially high customer traffic and increased bandwidth demand. ‘The MPLS network is a future-optimised platform which would ensure that present and future services on the network would be adequately catered for. We are now better prepared to cater to our customers growing demand for IP based services because the new platform has the ability to scale up to 400Gbps/slot. This would provide the ideal foundation for a full suite of the next generation services,’ he added.
