Digicel launches nation’s first HSPA+ network

3 Jun 2013

Wireless operator Digicel Anguilla has announced the launch of a nationwide HSPA+ network, which the pan-Caribbean group dubs ‘4G’. The USD4 million network, the first of its kind on the island nation, covers 99% of the population. Coinciding with the launch, the cellco introduced new HSPA+ compatible devices – including handsets from XCD199 (USD73.25) and dongles from XCD99 – and data packages starting at XCD2.99 per day.

Commenting on the launch, Digicel manager John Gidharry said: ‘When Digicel launched in Anguilla eight years ago, we changed the face of telecommunications across the island. Today, we are about to do the same again to the internet space and experience at homes, on mobile phones, tablets and other internet enabled devices. With this investment in our Anguilla business, we have now built Anguilla’s first and superfast 4G network in the country, giving customers the fastest data speeds while on the go.’
