PTCL profits up nearly 40% to USD34m

Fixed line incumbent Pakistan Telecommunication Company Ltd (PTCL) has booked profits of PKR3.33 billion (USD33.53 million) for the three months ended 31 March 2013, on the back of revenues totalling PKR32.18 billion. Pakistan Today writes that PTCL’s profits increased by 39.2% compared to a year earlier, whilst revenues rose by13.9% from PKR28.25 billion in the corresponding period of 2012. Meanwhile, operating income increased to PKR1.23 billion from PKR700 million twelve months previously, whilst expenses relating to sales and marketing fell slightly to PLR1.99 billion from PKR2.01 billion over the same period.
