T-Mobile Czech Republic has revealed that it has selected Cisco Systems’ ASR 5000 router to act as the core of its fourth-generation Long Term Evolution (LTE) network, as well as managing mobile traffic on its existing 2G and 3G infrastructure. The cellco says the new equipment will enable it to offer optimised video services as well as feature-rich multimedia applications. The ASR 5000 solution will be implemented during the course of 2013 and will result in increased bandwidth, new intelligent network services and faster access to the mobile internet, it says. The vendor notes that its Cisco ASR 5000 router is part of its next generation network (NGN) architecture, whose primary objective is to provide the optimal solution for operators to develop their networks.
