Pacnet deploys Infinera’s 500Gbps DTN-X platform

19 Mar 2013

Pacnet has deployed Infinera’s DTN-X platform featuring 500Gbps long-haul super-channels, providing the Asian carrier with what a press release calls ‘the most technologically advanced solution for 100Gbps services and the largest regional deployment of 100Gbps technology to date’. The Infinera DTN-X increases network efficiency by converging 500Gbps long-haul super-channels with 5 Terabits of integrated OTN switching per bay, resulting in more efficient utilisation when compared to conventional WDM architectures. ‘The Infinera DTN-X FlexCoherent modulation capabilities, integrated control plane, and seamless subsea to terrestrial integration with the existing network further enhances our data centre connectivity and network virtualisation strategy,’ said Andy Lumsden, Pacnet’s CTO, adding that the solution ‘advances our Layer 3 to Optical convergence and Network-as-a-Service initiatives.’

Pacnet owns and operates EAC and C2C, fibre-optic submarine cable networks with 21 cable landing stations extending from India to the US, spanning 46,800km, and serves global customers with a comprehensive range of network and managed services.
