Thailand’s second largest mobile operator DTAC will launch its 2100MHz 3G network in late June, later than rivals AIS and True which aim to launch 3G and 4G 2100MHz services respectively in April. The disclosure was made by DTAC marketing head Pakorn Pannachet, quoted by the Bangkok Post, who added that the cellco expects its combined number of 850MHz/2100MHz 3G users to approximately triple to ten million this year. DTAC currently has 15,700 base stations nationwide, of which 10,500 are 2G and 5,200 are 3G, although Mr Pakorn noted that all 15,700 base stations have 3G-ready equipment.
